Maharaja Ram Singh brought the art of lac making to Rajasthan in the 18th century. Since then lac has been used extensively for making jewellery, doorknobs, and other decorative articles. Lac is a type of resin extracted from wild trees, which is heated, kneaded, hammered and moulded often studding the resin with colourful beads, metal strips and other adornments. It’s a work of careful patience and produces beautiful marvels.
